– Browser, no app required

The TIB AV-Portal provides scientific audiovisual media as Open Educational Resources (OER) free of charge. The focus here is on technology, architecture, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics. A large number of the videos can be downloaded and used for teaching purposes. As a registered user, you can also contribute your own materials.

The TIB AV-Portal is now the repository on which teachers from North Rhine-Westphalia can also publish their materials. The OER search and the legal information center can still be accessed via ORCA.nrw, but Lower Saxony and NRW are now cooperating on the technical operation in order to conserve resources. The TIB AV-Portal is used for uploading audiovisual media. You simultaneously publish documents, presentations, and graphics on twillo.

Step by Step

TIB AV is a web-based platform that can be used free of charge. It can be accessed from all web-enabled devices. You can find the website here.

If you want to search for and download material, this is mostly possible without creating an account. On the homepage, you will find a search bar that allows you to search in German and English. In addition to the video’s metadata, spoken text, text overlays, and image motifs are also searched when entering a search keyword. Besides the search function, the homepage offers an initial range of topics such as the latest videos or tutorials on how to use the portal.

If you are, for example, interested in the topic of thermodynamics, the results found will be listed with a preview image after you enter the keyword in the search bar. These can be filtered by language, video length, etc.

After selecting a video, the video player opens. Here you will also find all metadata. The Quote and Share options are available directly below the video player. If there are no legal restrictions, you can download the video by clicking on the three dots below the player.

To upload your own materials to the TIB AV-Portal, you first need to register. To do this, simply create an account using the registration mask. A link to the campusID is not possible with the TIB AV-Portal.

After logging in, you can upload individual videos using an upload form. Larger data are transferred via an FTP server or can be sent to the TIB on a data carrier. You can find detailed instructions and a video tutorial in the FAQ section.
